Growing in Unity, Day 5

Last day as Growing in Unity gal!
Since today is also Friends With Flair I made a few different cards to share.
For this first one I tried a new technique that I saw a few days ago. Basically you take a stamp and stamp the image on the back side of your dp and then cut it out. And here is the card I made and the stamp I used:

Supplies:
Unity "All You Need" kit
Unity Folk Inspired" kit
Basic Grey "Out of  Print"
Hero Arts "Petite Print background stamp
Spellbinders lacey ovals

My second card is made with one of my favorite stamps of the week stamps, I just love this owl, and find myself using this stamp all the time.
I cut the card using spellbinders and then tied the postal twine around it, I was just going to add the cut out owl on top, but wanted him to stand out more, so I added a square of white paper behind him.

And last I have this pretty pink & grey card that I made with a stamp from the "Oh La La" kit and Echo Paper.

Now that this week of GIU is over, I guess that there is no longer an excuse for not organizing for our move in a month, oh wait, tomorrow is my birthday, so no working around the house tomorrow, right? I will probably take the kids out to eat, and spend the day just having fun with them. Second to last birthday in our family before my husband comes home from Iraq, YAY!!!
Thank you for stopping by, and do leave a comment on this post for your chance to win two Itty Bitty stamps of your choice from Unity! I will announce the winner tomorrow.

Also I do have the following blog candy up for grabs:

Growing in Unity, Day 4

Welcome to day 4 of Growing in Unity!
I am having lots of fun making cards with my Unity stamps this week, and today I have a few of them to share with you.

These were super fast to make, and I really like how they turned out.
For both of these, I just tore off random strips of washi tape and then added a sentiment.
For the top one I stamped the sentiment with StayzOn since I stamped straight on the tape, and the sentiment came from the "Little Bugs" kit.
The awesome sentiment on the second one is from a stamp of the week stamp called "Simple Daily Blessings"
 Supplies:
Washi tape
Unity "Simple Daily Blessings"
Unity "Little Bugs"

On this one I stamped the text background on a white panel, then I stamped the leaf stamp using versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. rubbed the green ink over it and then wiped the stamped image for a clean look.

Supplies:
Unity "Joy Beyond Measure"
Unity "Gratitude = Joy"
PTI paper
Spellbinders Label One

Growing in Unity, Day 3

Day three of Growing in Unity. For today I made this card, using some glimmer mist that I have lots of, but rarely use. Looking at this picture now, I realize that I really must get better at taking pictures, lots of glare in this one....
Don't forget to visit my blog every day, and leave a comment for your chance to win some cute stamps from Unity.

I started out with a kraft card that I sprayed with glimmer mist, then I used Spellbinders to cut a window in the card. I added the dp on the inside and stamped the heart on a scrap of dp too (it is hard to see because of glare in the pic), cut it out and used dimensional dots to attach it.

Supplies:
June 2011 KOM "All Smiles"
Paper from "This & That" Lily Bee Design
Red paper from Crate paper
Jillibean Soup pins
PTI ribbon
Tattered Angels Coffee Shop glimmer mist
Spellbinders Label One
Ranger Vintage Photo ink pad

Thank you for stopping by, and leave a comment for your chance to win two Itty Bitty stamps from Unity!

Hello

Today I have a couple of cards to share. These were both sent with my friends husband to Afghanistan today. For the first one I stamped the doily  background with a stamp from the Generations kit, and the Hello stamp is from the May KOM. The second card is made with some paper from the scrap pile - I must have cute these strips a while back with some idea in mind, but then never used them, and the stamp is from one of the SOTW stamps.

Happy day to all!!!

June 14 FWF

Here is the card I made to share for FWF this week. the doily stamp is from the Generations kit, and the little tag is from the Dutch Mustard Soup kit.

I am giving this card (along with a bunch more) to my friends husband who is leaving for a year long deployment to Afghanistan tomorrow morning. This way he will have cards to send to loved ones at home while he is away. Next I will be working on a set of cards to give to her, so she can send him some happy mail too. But first a "fun" road trip with the kids to North Carolina to look for housing for our move next month, this should be the last trip I have to take alone with the kids, before my husband returns from his "trip" to Iraq. YAY!!!

Happy weekend and TFL!

Summer Giveaway Winner!

Using random.org I picked a winner for the Summer g
Giveaway. The winner is comment # 5 Emily Keaton.  Emily, please send me an email at evastrong@rocketmail.com with your address, so I can mail the prize to you.

Thank you all for your comments, and stay tuned for another fun giveaway in a few weeks.

Live Each Moment

This week I have this card to share for FWF, this flower was so much fun and easy to make. The papers are Stella and Rose from MME and the stamp is from the May KOM.

Today is our oldest sons 13th birthday, and the youngest was 2 1/2 yesterday, so now we have two teenagers and a toddler. It is also our anniversary so I made this card, I did not mail it to him since he is scheduled to come home at the end of July and mail to Iraq has been really unpredictable for the past six months, guess I will just wait and celebrate with him when he gets home.

This beautiful bracelet arrived yesterday for me, and I feel truly blessed to be married to such a thoughtful man.

And last but not least, on Wednesday the kids (we all cried) and I stood here with our flags to honor yet another fallen hero. This boy was only 23 years old and he gave all for our country, we all must remember that freedom is not free, and honor those who fight for our freedom every day.

The Fort Leavenworth community paid honors to a fallen local hero who was laid to rest in the post cemetery Wednesday, Jun. 6, 2012. The fallen Soldier, Pfc. Cale Miller, was killed in Afghanistan May 24.

Long post I know... Hopefully everyone has a fun weekend with family and friends.

More Miss You Cards

Still making "Miss You" cards for my husband, but at least this year of being apart is going to be over soon.  For this I paper pieced the flowers with some paper from my scrap basket, and used some flower soft for the middle of the flower. And the stamp is a Unity Itty Bitty.

In Your Soul

Made this card this morning before the kids got up and the day got super busy. I used a Stamp of the Week that I got several weeks ago, but still had not used, and I decided to start using my sewing machine again which I had not done for a really long time. The buckle was a silver color and I did not like how it looked with the card, so I colored it with a Copic to make it brown.

TFL!

Friends With Flair Friday

I can't believe that it is Friday and June already, this week sure went by fast. Just realized that there is only two months until we have to move to NC from Kansas and I have not been serious about finding housing yet, guess it is time to start looking. I made a couple of cards for FWF this week, and here they are:

This chipboard star has been sitting on my craft table for months, so I decided to finally use it for something. I just put three strips of scor-tape on the card and sprinkled them with black glitter, and then decided to stamp the sentiment in red to add a little color. The sentiment is from the April KOM "Follow Your Own".

A friend who recently moved to Germany gave me a bunch of navy card stock already folded into cards, so this was really quick and easy. The stamp is from one of the SOTW stamps.

I will be posting another post today with a summer giveaway. Hope everyone has a fun weekend!
